Daniele Camarda is a world-renowned musician acknowledged as one of the most original bassists and improvisers on the international scene. His work merges the many strings playing traditions from all corners of the world with a unique approach to live electronics.
 

Born in Messina (Italy), he began playing at age 9, performing at age 13 and has been touring internationally since age 18.

 He has graduated Magna Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music and his collaborations includes touring and recording with musicians such as Lionel Loueke, Leo Genovese, Markus Stockhausen among many others. 

He has released 4 albums as a leader : Solo (2001), Dell’Incertezza (2005), Sound Act (2012) and Still Nature (2014) and toured internationally in major clubs and festival over Italy, USA, Argentina, India, Japan, France, England, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Lebanon, UAE and more. 

Beside his work as a solo artist, collaborator and sideman he has been as soundtrack composer for movies “Polvere” (2009), “Waves” (2012) and in documentaries “Oltre Selinunte” (2006) and “Paladino in Piazza” produced by the italian national broadcast Rai Educational (2013).

He has been active as an educator throughout his life, holding private instruction, masterclasses and workshops as  professor of the Conservatory of Trapani and Siena Jazz University (Italy), and has guest visiting artis at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, Conservatory of Tblisi, Conservatory of Budapest. He’s also been Head of Music and Production Department at StudioRepublik in Dubai (UAE).

During the recent years Daniele has debuted Dalima (co-lead with Lionel Loueke and Martin Valihora), has launched his “Online Music Coaching” one-on-one mentorship program, has developed the Multi Basses & Guitars for Manne Guitars and has just recorded a new trio work with Ziv Ravitz and Federico Casagrande. 

Describe your rig or instrument of choice: 6 String Manne Multi Bass, Ableton Live, Line 6 Stomp, Microcosm Hologram. 
How did you discover Nordstrand? A student of mine had a bass with a couple of Big Singles
How long have you been using Nordstrand? SInce 2019, when I designed the Multi Bass for Manne Guitars (featuring 2 Zen Blades along a piezo pickup)

 

The Zen Blades are extremely refined and elegant providing a beautiful rendering of the subtle nuances. They seat perfectly in the mix and they are ready to open up and bite as soon as I dig harder.
